New Kingdom Dynasty XVIII, Circa 1479-1425 BC

Egyptian Gold Mounted Rectangular plaque/seal with Cartouche of the Pharaoh Thutmose III carved from tan steatite; both sides bear decoration; set in a fine gold rope border, possibly original. On the upper convex side, is a cartouche of Men-kheper-re (Thutmose III); on the bottom side depicting a dancing, profile crowned God Bes, with a long tail, head turned backwards, a sun and a obelisk. 
Size: 7/8 inches L. x 5/8 inches W. Some very minor, ancient edge roughness otherwise intact, exc. cond. A nice example.
Provenance: Private Brooklyn collection. Estate of the artists James McBey (12/23/1883 - 12/1/1959) and Marguerite McBey, London, England, by descent to family.
