10767. Egyptian Turquoise Blue Glaze Faience Ushabti

XXI-XXII Dynasty, Ca. 1069 to 715 BC.

Intense bright blue glazed faience mummiform ushabti, holding the royal implements, painted black and wearing a black headband, tied in the back.These are magic figures that come to life to do the farming in the afterlife. He is holding a hoe and sickle to work the fields. Remains of hieroglyphic inscriptions from "The Book of the Dead" are visible down the front column. Size: 2-3/4 inches H. + mount. Intact, excellent condition. Ex Chicago Collector Harvey Sarner.
