11556. Calima Pottery Anthromorphic Alcarraza Vessel

Colombia, Llama to Yotoco Phase, Ca. 100 BC to 400 AD.

A rare vase in the shape of a large humanoid, kneeling with small limbs and a large head. Body overall decorated with incised and negative resist designs. Atop are two opposite spouts and a strap handle. Size: 9-1/2 inches H. Ex Poway California Collector John Hart. Compare a similar example in Colombia Before Colombus, by A Lebbe, no. 53. An excellent and choice example.
