11842. Wearable Quimbay Gold Shaman Pendant & Quartz Bead Necklace

Colombia Ca. 500 to 1000 AD.

A high karat solid gold shamanistic figure with bird on his head is centrally hanging on a strand with gold and stone native beads; all of the period. ,A large example worn by the high status shaman class which the iconography suggests. Compare similar example in Gold of El Dorado, W. Bray, figure 404, p198. Size of figure: 1-3/8 inch L, 24 grams. Strand 18 inches L.
