12112. Fine Zacatecas Painted Pottery Female

West Mexico, Ca. 300 BC to 200 AD.

Seated pottery female figure with hands to the side; tan and and red geometric decoration on the body. The abstract stylized form is magnificent with slender cylindrical arms and legs and flat face.
Good Size: 21 inches Height.

Excellent documented provenance: ex Harry Franklin Gallery, Beverly Hills CA 1960; ex Leonard Kaplan, Laguna Beach Ca 1962. ex Mr. & Mrs. Lionel K Steinberg, Palm Springs 1968. and with a scan of a Hasso Von Winning document dated 1963!.

Zacatecas examples such as this which look like outer worldly aliens have been found in shaft-tomb-chambers along with other offerings to the deceased.
