12489. FIne Chinese Bronze Horse and Rider

Ming Dynasty, circa 1368 to 1644 A.D.

Finely detailed cast bronze horse with mounted rider standing on an integral raised platform base, open in the center. The rider is possibly a nobleman wearing an elaborately detailed costume with a long flowing beard and expressive facial features.
Overall blue-green surface patina with scattered encrustation.
Size: 8 inches H. x 5-1/2 inches L. + old black lucite slab base. A nice example.
Provenance: Estate of Barbara Goldsmith, NYC., acquired 1960s-1980.
