13410. Apulian Red-figure Covered Lekanis from the workshop of the Baltimore Painter

South Italian Circa 4th Century BC

Two part covered vessel on raised foot and with knob handle; decorated atop with two heads of Ladies of Fashion, one with depocted head on frontally; both wearing a radiate stephane and kekryphalos, with palmettes between and rays on the top-knop, with a wave pattern around the lid rim and plain black glaze base section.

Size: 6 inches (15.1cm) H. x 9-1/4 inch (23.5cm) diam handle to handle.

Provenience: Ex Collection C.H., Lower Saxony Germany, acquired between 1960s and 1987
