13478. Costa Rican Greenstone Figural Celt
Guanacaste/Nicoya region, ca. 500 to 1200 CE.
A beautiful celt, hand-carved and string-cut from a mottled green stone in the form of a stylized anthropomorphic figure. The celt is polished to a sheen, and drilled hole on the neck allow it to be worn as a pendant. Size: 1.8" W x 4.9" H (4.6 cm x 12.4 cm); 5.625" H (14.3 cm) on included custom stand. Provenance: private Southern California, USA collection, acquired in the 1970s to mid-1980s
