13505. Fine Egyptian Limestone Relief (Syrian)

New Kingdom Early 19th Dynasty, ca. 1293-1250 B.C.

Bold and crisp carving, a large profile face depicted with almond shaped eye and beard, hand raised in submissive gesture, perhaps in the style of a Syrian captive. Traces of original red pigment on surface. Size 14-3/4 inches H. x 8 inches W + custom mount. Provenance: Acquired from Jerome M. Eisenberg, Royal Athena Galleries NYC, on July 2nd 1983, inventory no. BLL02, invoice no 2270.
