13668. Egyptian Bronze Mother Goddess: Isis Horus

XXVIth Dynasty, Ca. 646 to 525 BC.

Size: 8-3/4” without tenon. Traces of original gilding on the surface. Wooden throne listed as possibly ancient in Sotheby’ s catalog. Intact, exc. cond. A nice large size example. Provenance: Private NY State collection, acquired at Sothebys, NY, sale 6517, Dec. 1993, lot # 392. Large cast mother child bronze of the goddess Isis seated and holding her child Horus, on her lap, and wearing a long close-fitting dress, armlets, anklets, broad collar and a striated tripartite wig with finely engraved vulture headdress, and diadem of uraei surmounted by horns and sun-disc.
