13668. Egyptian Bronze Isis Horus

XXVIth Dynasty, Ca. 646 to 525 BC.

Large cast mother child bronze of the goddess Isis seated and holding her child Horus, on her lap, and wearing a long close-fitting dress, armlets, anklets, broad collar and a striated tripartite wig with finely engraved vulture headdress, and diadem of uraei surmounted by horns and sun-disc. Size: 8-3/4” without tenon. Traces of original gilding on the surface. Wooden throne listed as possibly ancient in Sotheby’ s catalog. Intact, exc. cond. A nice large size example. Provenance: Private NY State collection, acquired at Sothebys, NY, sale 6517, Dec. 1993, lot # 392.
