 Oil on panel dated 1942

by Jose Sabogal ( 1888-1956) from Peru. A portrait of a semi-nude seated woman, naked to the waist with her arms behind her. Her beige colored skirt covers her legs. Her dark hair is either very short or pulled back from her face and she wears bright red lipstick. The dark background is textured.
Size: 12-1/2 in x 9-3/4 in + frame
Signed lower left "Sabogal 42"
CONDITION: Good. FRAME: The molding is elaborate, with a gold outer area with a rope design, followed by a glossy black area and a larger area of egg and dart design. Provenance: Ex Mr. and Mrs. William Dennis, Clear Creek Farm, Ocala, FL
