13962. Parthian Roman Green Glaze Pottery Bulls Head
Eastern Roman Empire Ca 4th Century AD. A rare and sensitive depiction of a buff clay head with neck; fashioned of thick squat form, pronounced snout, dewlap and horns. Curious, there is a scorpion rendered atop his head and between his horns. A fertility symbol or some tie in tot eh cult of Mitharas. Good green glaze surface and deposits, wear, and exceptional patina.
Size: 7-1/2 in. Length; 10-1/4 height on custom mount.
