Ptolemaic Period, ca. 330 BC.

Gilt wood, gesso and polychrome pigments comprise this females deities head. Upon her head, she wears the characteristic headdress of a house atop a basket.

Size 7 inches H + custom mount.

Nephthys was a goddess common in tomb decoration. She was the sister of Isis and, in myth, they mourned over the deceased Osiris together so they are shown in tombs as archetypal mourners.
