14046. Egyptian Green Glaze Faience Amulet of Pataikos

Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE.

The bandy-legged dwarf deity meant as a protector and a mitigator of violent natural forces. He stands atop an integral circular plinth, holds arms to his portly abdomen, and has a small suspension loop behind his neck. Tall ears flank his enlarged head, and the top is capped by a forward-facing scarab beetle. Intact.
Size: 1-3/4 inches Height; 4 inches H (9.9 cm) on included lucite stand.

Provenance: private Southern California, USA collection, acquired in the 1970s to mid-1980s
