West Mexico, Protoclassic, ca. 100 B.C. - A.D. 250

A pair of solid pottery standing figures, holding their hands to their chests, wearing nose rings, large pendant necklaces and crossed headbands. One wearing fancy decorated loincloth. Both have painted white highlights on an ocher ground, incised linear decoration. Strong mineral deposits on the surface. One has one leg reattached, otherwise intact. Very scarce type.

Size: 4-3/4 inches to 5 inches H. + custom mounts.

Provenance: Private Nevada collection, ex. Dr. David Harner collection, Arkansas, 1950s-1960s.
