Kalimantan (Borneo) early 20th Century AD Unusual festival mask with snout in sealife form with curvilinear serrated outline surrounded by long thin flexible prongs inserted into snout. Separately carved ears, projecting button eyes, and eye holes beneath with painted scrolling pattern around face, lower jaw attached with fiber. Size: 18 H. (45.7cm) x 21 W. (53.3cm) Surface wear, pigment loss, reed whisker losses. Provenance: Ex Collection of a NYC institution.
