14188. Provenanced Chavin Bone Incised Implements (2)

Peru, Cupisnique, Middle Phase, North Coast, ca. 1200 to 800 BC

Well rendered incised carved fragments. On is a thin tubular honey color carved delicately all around with complex iconography. Number penned atop A 170. Along with a thicker white bone section, cracked and with losses. Both incised in fine line composition with heads and deities.
Condition: fair. Size 5-3/8 H for the taller and 4-1/4 the wider one.
Provenance: Ex lifetime collection of Dr. Saul Tuttman, NYC, acquired 1960s, with penned behind number 184 and with a black and white photo documenting the item with a date stamp of Nov 1968.
