A fine wood carved figure standing on integral disk base holds arms to sides framing torso with fetish in center and surrounded by cloth elements; one adhered with caked on material. The face also has applied glass eyes and dome hairdo with fetish material. The somewhat flattened round face with splayed nose, thick lips, and large relief ears at sides. Some surface erosion of applied material on torso, else intact

Very fine style. size 11 inches H + custom block mount

Provenance: Estate of Thomas McNemar, (1931-2019.) McNemar lived and collected throughout Central and West Africa in the 1960s and 70s. He established galleries of African Art in New York and San Francisco, selling to museums and public and private collections in the United States and Europe.
