South Italy Ca 4th Century BC

An elaborate scene on a unique organic shaped pouring vessel with large frontal spout and handle atop. Elaborately decorated with a rare frontal depiction of a woman's face at center, to either side oif this are goddesses holding attributes and recumbent deer before them. There are various beautiful devices in field, especially the interlocking palmettes, sprigs, flowers, and banding; all painted in the complicated red figure technique with much remaining added white and pink accents.

Size: 13 1/4 in. (33.6cm) H. Multiple repairs.
