14335. Nazca Tie Dye Textile Panel
Peru, South Coast, Ca. 200-600 A.D. Large multicolor tie dye patchwork woven textile panel, composed of approximately thirty-eight individual squares sewn to form one panel, overall rows of diamond patterns and combinations of geometric elements. Several repairs and restorations, and a few scattered losses. Size: 33-3/4 inches H x 54 inches L. Professionally sewn to a cloth backing and mounted on a wooden stretcher. Framed in a custom lucite box frame. Provenance: NYC private collection, acquired from Edward H. Merrin Gallery, NYC., early 1970s.
