14521. Chancay Pottery Bichrome Painted Votive Female

North Coast, Ca. 1100 to 1400 AD.

Hollow made and standing on short thick legs; both stub hands are held up and facing forward. The head is decorated with cross hatch headdress. The body is wonderfully plump with incised pubic area. Painted in cream and brown.
Condition: Nose chip and wear and abrasions and with original deposits.
Sweet expression in person. Size: 6-1/4 inches H. + custom mount.
Provenance: Ex Collection George Grossblatt, former owner of Pinata Party, an importer of South American design and fashion into the US, acq 1960s and by descent to B.D. his widow, NYC.
