14649. Egyptian Green Glaze Faience Painted Pectoral

Late Period Circa 664 to 300 BC

A wonderful architectural shaped faience magical double sided shrine with protective powers, pierced for suspension, and painted on both sides; On the front the jackal headed deity, Anubis lies on a shrine, on the back side a "djed" pillar is flanked by "tyet" knots.

Size: 4-1/8 inches x 3-2/8 inches (8.5 x 10.5cm.) + custom base.

Compare with a pectoral in The Walters Art Gallery, Baltimore, MD, acc no.42.88; which has similar motifs on both sides.

Provenance: Acq. Cheshire English as private UK collection assembled in the 1980s and 90s.
