West Mexico, Protoclassic, Ameca Style, ca. 100 B.C. - A.D. 250

A lovely figure, painted in tan slip, seated with elongated slender head, short arms at her sides. She wears only a skirt and exposed breasts with tattoo patterning in brown. Nice deposits.
Siez: 9-1/2 inches Height
Provenance: The Judith Meister,Meister Collection, Highland Park, Chicago, Illinois, acquired between 1950s-1994; thence by decent. Compare, The Shaft Tomb Figures of West Mexico, by H. Von Winning for examples of the type.
