14750. Egyptian Janiform Polychrome Wood Hathor Head

New Kingdom, Ca 1500 BC

Double headed with a bust of the Goddess Hathor at either side; she has full wig, almond shaped eyes, pointed ears and headdress with mortice to underside. Remains of blue, yellow and white pigment. Old paper label to base.
Size 3-1/4 inches H. + mount.

Provenance: From the estate of Michael Fellman, Walnut Creek, CA. with copy of a 1990 appraisal from C.L. Wysuph and Associates featuring this sculpture no 23b. Also the old paper label on the front mentions it was once from Lord Grenfell K.C.B. Collection. At one point in Lord Francis Grenfell’s distinguished military career, he was a Sirdar (Commander-in-Chief) of the Egyptian Army under British occupation.
