14796. Tibetan Ceremonial Bronze Bell Varjra

Central Asia, Tibet, ca. 19 century CE

This Tibetan Vajra or knowledge bell is encircled by both intricate and serene Tibetan motifs, alternating blossoms, and a band of Kala heads spilling forth strands of jewels, forming a valance around the bell. It has four pronged half Vajra on top with a wisdom face of the yum, or mother looking toward the east on the handle. Height: 6-1/2 inches H. See “Art of Tibet” by Pal no.
