Third Intermediate Period, 21st-22nd Dynasty, 1070-664 B.C.

A good size carved limestone magical servant for the afterlife, wearing bag wig and holding hands folded across chest, uninscribed.
Size: 8 1/2 inches (21 cm). H. + mount. Old collectioin labels to base.

Provenance: Property from the Palm Springs Art Museum, Palm Springs, California, acq 1981 from the William Holden Estate; William Holden (b. 1918) was an American actor best known for his roles in Sabrina and The Wild Bunch. Holden had various collecting interests, with an emphasis in ancient Egyptian, Greek, Roman, and African objects.
