Graeco Roman, Circa 3rd Century BC to 3rd Century AD

A beautiful carving based on a classic Greek original of a major Goddess or Divinity, the hair parted over the forehead and arranged in wavy strands to the sides in the fashion of Pheidian sculpture. The beautiful face with pronounced lidded almond shaped eyes, deep drilled details, fine nose (repaired) and full lips.

height of head only: 19 cm (7 1/2 in.), including wood base: 30 cm (11 3/4 in.)
