China, Yuan to Ming Dynasty Ca 14th to 17th Century AD.

A large and impressive serene figure seated in a meditative posture with legs crossed and wearing flowing priest-like robe open at neck. Right arm raised in meditation pose with attenuated fingers, the torso with heavy drapery creases, his separately made head with fine features, elongated ear lobes, blue hair and elaborate crown. Overall greenish, black, gold, blue and white surface pigment remaining.

Size: 40 inches (101.6) cm Height.

Solid, Heavy, constructed of wood with mud and straw. Fine naturalistic style. Condition: Good; repaired breaks and cracks, losses to surface.
