15000. Moche Pottery Portrait Head
North coast, Peru, Ca. 200 to 400 AD. A striking terracotta stirrup-spout vessel depicting the head of a dignitary with strong facial features; he wears a headband, highlighted in dark brown pigment; the face striped red-brown and brown and with a strong voluminous nose which may have once held an ornament. Spout repaired and reattached, stable crack in front lower portion of spout.
Size 10-1/2" (26.7 cm.)H.
