15050. Nazca Perliferous Style Textile Panel
Peru, South coast, Ca. 600 to 1000 A.D. Tightly woven and elaborately decorated textile panel, having six horizontal wide bands with various standing deities, dignitaries holding weapons and ceremonial staffs, and mythological creatures with large fanciful headdresses with trophy type heads. Loss to the upper corner panel, scattered small imperfections and a few small holes. Sewn to a tan cloth backing and stretched on a mount.
Size: 22-1/2 inches H. x 19-1/2 inches W.
Provenance: Estate of David Sheridan, Branchburg, NJ., acquired 1950s to early 2000s, by descent to family.
