15093. Burmese Alabaster Painted Buddha

Myanmar, Ca. 19th Century A.D

Carved stone Buddha in - calling the earth to witness - position, bears a round usnisa atop head and has simple carved facial features, with eyes gazing downwards, and a slight smile. He sits on an integral base, with painted lotus petals.
Size: 14 inches H. Some remaining painted gilt and multicolor highlights which are generally worn, otherwise intact. Provenance: Ex Sam Hilu, New York collection, acquired prior to 1970.
