15148. Egyptian Limestone and Bronze Inlaid Uraei Stele
Third Intermediate Period, Dynasty XXI-XXV, 1070-657 B.C. The votive architectural shaped stele set with three bronze cast rearing cobras, one with a disc headdress, (one now missing), coiled bodies. Very fine style, each with remains of lapis lazuli inlay. The Uraeus is a representation of the sacred asp, symbolizing supreme power in ancient Egypt Size: 8 inches H + plexi Mount. Restoration to edges if stele. Provenance: Ex JIK Collection, Florida. Rare and choice.
