15153. Olmec Green Stone Bust of a Shaman or Ballplayer

Mexico, Ca. 1000-600 BC

Fine and expressive carved green stone shaman in transformation to a jaguar, depicted with a tightly fitting ballgame like helmet and feline type ears protruding. Wide lips, downturned mouth, and drilled eyes. Condition Missing legs and forearms, two small original pieces reattached along the lower front edge, some surface losses.
Size: 4”H. x 2-3/4”W. + custom base.
