15162. Egyptian Cartonnage Mask of a Young Male
Romano Egyptian Period, Circa 1st to 2nd Century AD. Naturally proportioned handsome youthful male head with symmetric features, aquiline nose, sensual lips, and carefully arranged hair ringlets under a veil with a vignette of a protective winged scarab. Amazing original pink, black and white pigment remaining. Condition: Intact mask section with some surface abrasions and losses to pigment and losses to lappets sides and behind section and minoir wear. Chips to the border. There is a 2 inch crack along cheek.
