15200. Indonesian Toba Batak Architectural Singas

Indonesian, early 20th Century AD

A good colorful pair of carved wood architectural elements, classically carved, depicting the "Singa", a supernatural protective spirit, found in pairs and placed at the corners of the front of the house or rice granary.

Size: 37 inches H. ea. Nice condition, not really faded or worn as most are.

Provenance: Acquired circa 1980 from a Toronto gallery.
