15259. Taino Pottery Vessel with Adornos

Hispanolia, Ca. 100 to 1500 AD.

Deep rounded buff clay bowl with central opening and wonderful rhythmic incised decoration. On the body in relief are spirit figures with deep set eye sockets and elongated arms, each representing an ancestor or monkey spirit.
Size: 8 inches Wide x 4-1/2 inches H.
