15378. Olmecoid White Stone Standing Figure

Guerrero, Mexico, Ca. 1000 to 600 BC.

Carved white stone with blue-green jadeite veining, standing figure with arms held to his sides, knees slightly bent. Tapered head with relief carved, expressive facial features. Overall scattered areas of surface deposits. Some remaining traces of red-orange pigment between his arms. Foot reattached otherwise intact.
Size: 7-1/2 inches H. x 3 inches W. + custom bronze base.
Provenance: Private FL. collection. Ex. Barry Kernerman, Toronto. Ex. Samuel Dubiner collection, Tel Aviv, Israel, acquired 1960s.
