Peru, Cupisnique, Middle Phase, North Coast, ca. 1200 to 800 BC

A splendid black ware vessel with mythological significance, molded into the shoulder is the head of a wide eyed cat with toothy mouth and perked ears; the body of the vase with lightly incised pattern all around and some remains of red cinnabar.

Intact, Size: 8 inches H.
