15481. Quiche Maya Lidded Janiform Jaguar Headed Vessel

Ca. 600 to 900 AD.

The lid surmounted by a opposing seated highly stylized jaguar with his paws held in a forward position, and with large ears and toothy expression. A small face applied to the front of the urn base. Urn rim is also pierced and the base has tripod legs. Traces of red, white and ocher highlights. Nice repaired condition. size: 8-3/4 inches H. (covered) Provenance: Private TG Florida Collection.
