15701. Egyptian Limestone Hieroglyphic Relief Fragment

New Kingdom 19th or 20th Dynasty, ca. 1292 to 1069 BC

Well rendered small fragment of a sepulcher dedication. Only two words are fully preserved: “… raised up and established Condition: Good for what remains; paint remaining on surface and fragmented borders.

Size 2-3/8 inches (6cm) H x 1-5/8 inches (4cm) W.

Provenance: Collection of Herbert Warner (b. Takeley, Essex UK 8th July 1851-1928); then by descent to eldest daughter Constance (1884-1964), who at age 45 married Sir Charles Mansfield Clarke who was then 92 in 1929. They had no descendants, so the items then passed to Herbert Warner’s 2nd eldest child, Hildegard (1885-1976) who was the previous owner’s grandmother.
