A single register of black-painted hieroglyphic inscription descends the front of the body in the manner of Third Intermediate Period funerary figures, with further painted detailing and a dorsal pillar to the reverse. Inscription translates as \u003cspan\u003e“The Osiris, the god‘s father of Amun [a type of priest], Padikhonsu, true of voice\".\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHeight 4 1\/2 inches (10.4 cm), plus custom display base.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe surface shows attractive age-worn glaze with warm earthen tones breaking through, fully consistent with ancient burial. Such faience ushabtis were placed in tombs by the dozens or hundreds to labor on behalf of the deceased in the afterlife.
