Ecuador, Circa 800 to 500 BC.

A good size vessel with a seated figural form, probably a musical warrior effigy, with good strong facial features, hands raised and holding a pan pipes or ocarina, wearing a smooth helmet atop head and rounded ear ornaments; strap handle and spout behind. Overall surface painted in red slip and burnished.

Size 8-3/4 inches (22 cm) H.
