The inked inventory number \"339-G\" on the head suggests prior collection cataloging.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThese schematic bone figures appear abruptly in Egypt and the Levant around the time of the Arab conquest (7th c. AD) and continued into the Early Islamic\/Coptic period, roughly 6th–10th century AD.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFunctions include inexpensive children's toys, votive offerings, or fertility amulets associated with cults of local female deities; many have been excavated from graves. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHeight: 2 in.
