The crossed hands grip a pick and a hoe, the tools it would use to answer the call to farm the fields of the afterlife in its owner's place. The figure stands against a back pillar on a rectangular plinth. Incised hieroglyphs run down the front translate as: \"Illuminate the Osiris, the overseer of the army Pakhas, born of Ibhemes, true of voice.\" The title imy-r mšꜥ, \"overseer of the army,\" belonged to the officers who served as generals of the Saite and later kings. That makes Pakhas one of a fairly small group of Late Period military commanders known from their funerary figures. A close parallel is the shabti of the overseer of the army Padihorenpe, born of Neitemhat, published by Pavel Onderka among the officers' shabtis in Prague. SC\/7; Schneider no. 5.3.1.  The tomb was discovered in the Giza Plateau in 1840.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eSize:  7.5 in. (19.1 cm) high + custom base. Pale green glaze survives in the recesses and on the sides and back, over the buff faience body.
