The creature is depicted with a wide feline face, cat-like whiskers, prominent staring eyes, and a mouth mask, holding a staff-like implement in one clawed hand and flanked by stylized trophy heads and decorative body panels. Functionally, double-spout and bridge vessels served as elite ritual containers and high-status funerary offerings placed in tombs to secure ancestral favor and accompany the deceased into the afterlife. A closely related comparative example is preserved in the Metropolitan Museum of Art (Accession Number: 1996.174, Double-spout bottle with flying figure, Nazca, c. 300–500 AD), which showcases a similar polychrome execution, double-spout design, and iconographic arrangement.  Condition: Some surface spalls, and restoration to painted surface and with dendrite deposits and wear\/ erosion.\u003cbr\u003eSize 8-1\/2 inches H. \u003cbr\u003eEstate of  Rael Gleitsman.
