The vessel retains magnificent iridescence and areas of golden weathering across the body, the result of nearly two millennia of burial.  Small free-blown bottles of this type were among the most common glass forms produced in the workshops of the Eastern Mediterranean following the invention of glassblowing in the 1st century BC.
