The beads measure approximately 8–10 mm, graduated slightly toward the front, in spherical and flattened rondelle forms with a single barrel bead. Carnelian is the translucent orange-red variety of chalcedony; several beads here shade into banded agate, one with pronounced white striations. Color ranges from pale orange through deep reddish brown. Surfaces vary as expected from burial — some beads retain a glassy polish, others show light encrustation and pitting. Six small ancient gold beads, of ribbed melon and plain oval form, are set among the carnelians at the front. Restrung with small dark spacer beads between each element; modern clasp at 18 inches L.
