Middle Horizon, Peru, ca. 600–1000 A.D.

The finely woven camelid wool tapestry fragment preserves a complex tapestry design of stepped triangles, vertical striping, and tightly packed abstract figures rendered in gold‑brown, cream, deep red, and accents of black and green.  The repeating motif shows a stylized standing figure or deity in profile, holding a vertical staff or standard, framed by smaller compartments filled with feline‑derived and geometric sacred imagery. 

Mounted and framed under Optium Museum Acrylic. Textile size: approx. 14 in L × 6 1/2 in W (35.6 × 16.5 cm).  Frame size: approx. 11 in H × 17 1/4 in L × 1 7/8 in D (27.9 × 43.8 × 4.8 cm).

Provenance: Bettina Schwimmer, Lakeview, Chicago, Illinois, a noted dealer in Pre‑Columbian and ethnographic textiles.

We ship Tuesday to Friday with UPS or USPS and usually same day if your order is received before 2pm. Depending on size and destination, delivery times range from one to five business days.

For overseas shipments our shipping charge includes packing, preparation of all customs paperwork, insurance and carrier fees in compliance with all USA and International customs requirements.

Overseas shipments are usually sent by courier but contact us if you have a shipping preference. International customers are responsible for all duties and taxes.
