 From the circle of the Kantharos Group circa 320 to 310 BC.  

An imposing South Italian red-figure amphora of monumental form, with twin handles rising from the shoulder, a broad flaring rim, and a tall stemmed disc foot. The ovoid body is densely decorated in the elaborate, additive style characteristic of Apulian workshops, the figural scene framed by ornate floral, palmette, and laurel borders and enlivened with added white, yellow, and red.

Apulian red-figure pottery was produced in the Greek-influenced workshops of southeastern Italy between roughly 430 and 300 BC, and is celebrated for its scale, theatrical compositions, and rich repertoire of mythological, funerary, and daily-life imagery. Vessels of this magnitude were prestige objects, frequently produced for funerary use and deposited in the tombs of the regional elite.

The amphora preserves crisp slip and detailing, with the lustrous black ground setting off the reserved red figures and polychrome accents to striking effect.
