An elegant ancient Egyptian necklace of deep turquoise-blue glazed faience, the principal elements dating to the late 18th Dynasty (Amarna period), ca. 1360 BC. Three pairs of finely glazed scaraboids — one a faintly marked scarab — are spaced along the lower portion, with smaller scaraboids suspended below. The centerpiece is a 2.2 cm blue-glazed hemisphere set within an ancient Roman-period gold funda collar, edged in cord-and-bead ornament with a perforate center fitted with a gold rosette secured by a cotter-pin; below hang a scaraboid and a rough blue-glazed scarab.

In ancient Egyptian belief, the luminous blue of faience symbolized water, rebirth, and powerful regenerative force — fitting for the funerary and amuletic role of these elements. The ancient components are presented on a modern fine-link gold chain with ring clasp for wearability.

According to the original mid-20th-century collection card accompanying the piece, the faience elements were found in a tomb at Tell el-Amarna. The necklace descends with an exceptional early pedigree, ex Khayat Collection (1917) and ex Parker Collection (1944).

Dimensions: Centerpiece: 2.2 cm diameter hemisphere;  Length: 18 in. plus danglers

Condition: Ancient elements very well preserved; restrung on a modern chain

Provenance: Ex Khayat Collection, 1917 (Azeez Khayat, prominent early dealer in Egyptian and Near Eastern antiquities, New York); ex Parker Collection, 1944. Accompanied by the original descriptive card recording the late-18th-Dynasty date and a Tell el-Amarna tomb findspot. This pre-1970 chain of ownership pre-dates the UNESCO Convention and supports the piece's lawful market presence.
